Hitchhiker Hustle Again

I really enjoy the GypsyLadybug's Hitchhiker Hustle swaps.  I commented to her a few months ago that she needed to host one again.  With these you make a HH and use the stamp to make LTCs.  You send both off and you get one of each LTC and a new HH :)

My card is called "Barn Quilt" and it is pretty simple.  I tore paper for the clouds & grass.  I had a tough time designing the barn.  It took me a few tries to get the angles on the roof just right.  I glued it all together with a glue stick.

The county just to the north of mine (Gibson) has a Barn Quilt Trail with 212 quilt squares.  Last year my boxing buddy and I were boxing at their visitor center and I got the map for the trail.  My boxing buddy joked that I should plant a box for every one!!   That is impossible but I am thinking about planting a few.  As of right now, I am not doing Box of the Month in 2017 and will plant one quilt square every month.  I was also thinking of challenging fellow boxers to plant some too.  This is totally on the back burner for now but I will let you know if I do it ;)

Back to the Hitchhiker Hustle...I made the logbook for my hitchhiker and sewed the pouch for the stamp.  Have I showed how to make these little books before?  I like using them for HH & Fleas.

You need a square piece of paper.  For this one I used 10 x 10.  You fold it in half and fold the outer parts to the middle.  You will have 4 long sections.

Then spin your paper around and do the same thing again.  Fold the paper in half and fold the outsides to the middle.

When you are done with this step you have 16 squares.  To make it easier to see I marked where to cut with a black marker.  Cut the outer folds to the last fold.  Then you spin it around and cut the middle fold to the last fold.  That's easy, right?

Then you fold it all up.  I found one of these at an event and I had to copy it.  I think it had a ribbon tying it all together.  Sometimes I do that too.

Anyway, I only had one pic for this blog entry and I thought I would spice it up a bit.

PS-Don't look at the mess on my desk.  I recently threw away a stamp in a pile of scraps.  Thankfully no one took out the trash right away  :D

Robins!

Someone recently posted on AQ that they were looking for people to carve stamps that went with sculptures in a park in Michigan.  They wanted you to carve a stamp based on the title of the sculpture and I picked "Robins!"  I really like my stamp and I will probably recarve it for a bird event that I am hosting this fall.

Here is a link to the sculpture if you want more info:

Peddling my Wares

My husband has been bugging me for a while that I need to find a way to sell my stamps and logbooks.  So I gave in started an Etsy shop.  I am starting off slow.  Right now I have a few logbooks and a pre-made letterbox for Brownie Girl Scouts.

I am not sure how I will go about selling stamps.  I think if people need a stamp they will just go to the store and buy one.  I will probably hold off on those until the spring.

Pre-made letterbox
(Lock & Lock, logbook, stamp, and pouch)
Now that I decided to do this I can only find time to make logbooks once the kids are in bed :(  In November, I plan to add some cross stitch Christmas ornaments.  My shop will have letterboxing stuff and some misc crafts.

Summer Hitchhikers

I am in a Hitchhiker Hustle tracker.  You carve up a hitchhiker, make 9 LTCs, and send both off to the host.  You get one of all the LTCs and a different hitchhiker.  I decided to make a hitchhiker series and carve up 4 seashell stamps.  I will send one off for the tracker, two others will go to a hostel in Washington, and the last one will go in my hostel.

It's Cookie Time

It's Girl Scout Cookie Time! That means my house is full of cookies for my troop booth sales.  We have had two booth sales so far and we still have a lot of cookies to sell.

This summer I am going to help local Brownies earn their Letterboxing badge at Day Camp.  With all the empty cookie boxes around I started making cookie box log books.  We will use them to plant the letterboxes to earn the Brownie badge.

Valentines Logbooks

I got a Bid it All for Christmas and I am loving it!  Someone posted that they needed raffle items for a Valentines themed event so I contacted them about my love for my new BIA.  They said that logbooks would be good and I made these three.  I will probably never buy notebooks ever again :)

First BIA Logbook

I got a Bind it All for Christmas!  I was so busy yesterday that I was not able to play with it.  Then the kitchen table was full of the kids presents from the grandmas on Christmas Eve that I had to put everything away.

I made one book this morning and I only messed up a little bit.  I made the covers bigger than the pages and I ended up with one more hole on the covers than I had on the pages.  So I had to cut new pages but that wasn't a big deal.  I will probably reuse the smaller ones later.

Thank you obnoxious, I mean, noxer hubby :P
