Painted Rock Postal

Painted Rock Postal: Shark Attack
I am participating in Book Hoarder's Painted Rock Postal Ring.  Mine is called, "Shark Attack."  We were not required to make matching rocks but I had too.  I plan on putting it near the BOTM.  I probably made my stamp too big but I am excited and looking forward to seeing the others in the ring :)

Girl Scout Postal Ring

I am participating in jlsd0218's Girl Scout postal ring.  I carved this stamp a few years ago when someone was looking for over sized LTCs based on books for a poster she was making for a contest at her local library.  One of the books on the list was about Juliette Low, the founder of Girl Scouts, and I carved the stamp and made a mini poster.  I don't remember how many I made and apparently I didn't save one for myself.  I have looked in all my LTC binders and can't find one.

After that, I decided that I would plant the stamp as a hybrid at my local GS office.  But another boxer beat me to it.  She emailed me to say that she was going to put it inside and asked if I wanted to add a stamp.  I told her no because the GS office had such limited hours.  So, I put my stamp away and the other boxer never planted one at the GS office either.  Not sure what happened there.

But I dusted off my old stamp, made a logbook, a matching postal hitchhiker, and sent them off in this new ring.  Hopefully Juliette will return home safe and maybe I can find a good place for her in the wild :)

Google Doodle Postal Ring

I'm participating in the Google Doodle postal ring.  I joined right away and started looking for images to carve.  About 99% of the images were too hard for me to carve.  There were a few that I liked but I thought they would work better for a LTC and not a plain stamp.

My stamp is for the Summer Solstice 2013.  This image appeared mainly in South America and we would not have seen it here in the states.  I love swimming at my parents river camp and that is one reason this image caught my attention.

I have already received one stamp from the ring.  There are 12 ppl participating and if I get one postal each week I will have mine back in time to plant it for the summer solstice.  I'm already looking for a good place to plant it :)

HERE is a link to the Google site and you can see my doodle in action!

Happy New Year :)

First plant of the new year :)
I spent part of the first day of the new year out boxing and caching.  I planted a new box in Santa Claus, In and did maintenance on 3 boxes.  I also found 3 geocaches while I was out.  I have a feeling that I will find more geocaches than letterboxes in 2016 :(

I will be participating in Box of the Month again in 2016.  I know, I said I wouldn't do it again but I love getting the stamps.  I have already had one finder on my 2016 BOTM.  The last stop for my 2015 BOTM was St Louis.  I hope it didn't wash away in the floods.
Lumpy Cards: Peacock Plumage

I am using my 2016 BOTM stamp for an LTC swap. These are my cards for the "Lumpy Card Lovers" swap.  They are called "Peacock Plumage."  Fun name.  They have cardboard, encyclopedia & music pages, paint chip, burlap, twine, and a rind stone.  I really enjoyed making these.

The Peanuts Gang: Typical Linus
I guess 2016 will be the year of the postal.  I am already signed up for 3 (counting BOTM).  I am in "The Peanuts Gang" and "Star Wars Characters."   My Linus is ready to go and I have my Ray image transferred and ready to carve.

I have been carving a lot of Etsy stamps lately.  Last year it slowed down around the holidays but not this year.

I hope everyone has a happy & safe 2016 :)

Jurassic World Postal

Jurassic World: Mosquito in Amber
I am participating in the "Jurassic World: A Movie Premiere" postal tracker.  When the tracker was first listed I thought about joining but I wasn't sure what to carve.  At our event a few weeks ago one of the local ladies said that she was doing it and encouraged me to do it too.

I have only been in one other postal ring (not counting the BOTM) and I was interested in doing it again.  The only problem was that I was super busy.  I had some LTCs that I needed to finish, lots of Etsy orders rolling in, and all the end of the school year stuff.

Tattoo inspiration
But once I got all that wrapped up I decided to do it.  Now I just had to pick an image.  I started looking online for Jurassic World/Park images and found a tattoo that caught my attention.  I started carving it and I think it turned out pretty good.  I had to make some LTCs too just in case something happened and I never saw my stamp again.

I posted the pic of my stamp & LTCs on Facebook and aMAZEing adventure frog suggested that I start a tracker for it.  So, I started the "2015 Movies" LTC tracker.  It is open to all movies coming out in 2015.

First Postal Ring

I am kicking off 2014 with my very first postal ring.  It is supposed to start in a few days and I am so excited :)
