Box of the Month & Gelli prints

Me, Daddy's Favorite Princess & Lil Ewok
This year we are participating in the Letterbox of the Month club.  Twelve people sign up, make a stamp and a logbook, and hide it for the first month.  Then, like a postal, you mail the logbook and stamp to the next person and they hide it for a month.  And it goes on and on until you get your own stuff back at the end of the year.

Yesterday we got our box for February and we planted it today.  In the pic is me & the princess.  Lil Ewok was mad that I would not let him bring his blanket on the walk and he would not face the camera.

I have a cousin who is a geocacher and when she comes to town she caches.  The last few times she has loaded up all the kids and went off geocaching.  Now the princess thinks caching is more fun than boxing because you "get prizes."  So we have looked for a few and not had much luck.  We looked for one today and couldn't find it.  I give up; it is just too stressful looking for something with no directions.

On a happier note: I told you that I got a Gelli plate last Friday and took it to a GS leader retreat.  I had a lot of fun playing with it.  These are my first prints.  I am using my Gelli plate on two cards and will probably use it a lot :)

Inchies!

I enjoy making inchies and back in the fall I was thinking it had been a while since I had make any.  I was going to host an inchie swap but I was stuck on a theme.

About a week later someone posted a swap called "Winchies", aka: winter inchies.  I decided to join that one and not start my own.  Shortly after that someone posted a Valentines inchie swap and I had to join that one two.

My winchie is called, "Snow Globe" and my Valentines inchie is called, "Special Delivery."

New Toy

I ordered a Gelli Plate and it came today.  I am really looking forward to playing with it.  This weekend I am going to a Girl Scout leader retreat and they encourage you to BYO crafts for Saturday afternoon.  I have packed up a lot of paint, stencils, string, paper, etc.  I am in a Gelli Plate LTC tracker and I have another card that I plan on using it on.  I am so excited!!

Winter Tree LTC

I have posted 3 other times about using a plain tree trunk to make cards for different seasons.  This is the last one, it is called "Winter Tree" and it is for the "Show it off" tracker.

I started off stamping a store bought text stamp on my cards with tan ink.  Over that I glued strips of tea bags.  (I like the antique Mod Podge because it gives a mate finish.  I feel like the mate Mod Podge is too glossy.)  I got this idea from Pinterest and I really like how it turned out there but I am too OCD to just put the strips on randomly.  Also, I was worried about running out of tea bags.

For the next step, I  rubbed a blue distress stain around the edge and added my tree trunk stamp. Now for the fun part, I took a stencil and painted some spots on two of the corners.  They are supposed to be snow.  While the paint was still wet I sprinkled some glitter :)

I carved up a little Cardinal and stamped it in the tree to add some color.

I also stamped up a snowflake on vellum.  I wanted to emboss it but I had issues.  The vellum didn't seem to like the heat and sometimes it would develop bubbles :(

The whole thing was glued to white cardstock.  I am pretty happy with how all of these season cards turned out.

I have thought about planting all of the stamps that I used making these cards so people can make their own.  But that is probably too much work.

Christmas

Thank you Book Hoarder :)
Yesterday I got my stamp from my Secret Santa and I love it.  This is my 4th Peanuts stamp and it goes right with the Christmas postcard I made this year.  However, I am not sure what to do with it.  I would like to use it as a PT or event box but we rarely go to events/meet other boxers.  I also think it would be cool to plant them all as traditional boxes but there are only 2-3 active boxers here.  I will probably make some LTCs and think about it some more.

Speaking of my Christmas postcard, I dropped the last batch off at the post office this morning!  If you count the 10 that I send off for the tracker, I have mailed out more than 130 of these suckers.  Wow, more than I expected.  It seemed like every time I sat down to work on them another new address showed up.  So, if you haven't gotten one yet (and you think I have your addy) it could be in the batch I sent out today.

Lastly, we had a Christmas miracle over the weekend.  Someone other than me planted a letterbox in my city.  Woo hoo!  It was a store bought stamp but beggars can't be choosers right?  And they were serving cookies so that makes up for the stamp.

The box was planted at a church having a large creche (nativity) display.  The gym of the church was filled with all different ones.  Large, small, wood, glass, ceramic, from other countries, etc.  It was really cool.  Lil Ewok and I enjoyed the displays, cookies, and letterbox.

I hope everyone has a very awesome Christmas!

Cupcakes!! LTCs

Cupcakes!!: Cupcake with glitter & sequins
Daddy's Favorite Princess and I are participating in the LTC swap "Caupcakes!!"

DFP was very excited about this swap and carved her stamp right after it was posted and made her cards a few weeks later.  All of her cards are a little different because she used all sorts of glitter & sequins.  The background paper is also glittery.

I wasn't sure about what to do with my card and almost dropped from the tracker but stuck with it because of the princess.  I found the cherry paper first and then started looking for images of a cupcake with a cherry on top.

Cupcakes!!: Cherry on Top
I stamped my image on cardstock and colored it in with watercolor pencils and went over it with a water brush pen thing.  I glued that to the cherry paper and then to the chocolate ;) paper.

We had fun making our cards and will be excited to see what the other participants make.

Thanksgiving Leftovers LTC

This is my card for the "Post Thanksgiving Leftovers" LTC swap.  This is my second time to participate in one of Team Awesome Pants "quickie" swaps.  She gives you about a week to make the cards and it is supposed to made completely of items you already have on hand.

I carved this stamps for our fall event in 2012.  I signed up for the tracker with the intention of using this stamp and then I thought it might be too big.  I dug around and found it and it fit.

The background paper has pumpkins and a strip from a dictionary.  Then the top layer of paper is a brown grocery bag.  I stamped my stamp first and did the stitching around the edge.  After that I glued everything together.  I really like how they turned out :)
